UPDATE!

First off, it's really, really nice that so many people have enjoyed this drawing of mine. It truly means a lot. That said, there are a few people who have been commenting that have sticks up their asses and are complaining about how my fanfic drawing here would "never happen" and is "impossible" or how "luna fans are ridiculous."

Grow the f*ck up and stop taking the fun out of everything. It's not like I drew the two banging each other, or am saying the episode sucked because it didn't happen this way. The episode had me jumping out of my seat. This would've just been icing on the cake. I created a scene, for my enjoyment and for anyone else's. If you really have to leave a comment about how something in a show about magical talking ponies is completely and utterly impossible and stupid instead of leaving something constructive, then you might want to re-evaluate yourself a little bit.

TL;DR - Seriously. It's ponies. Enjoy the actual show and leave your empty insults to yourselves if you don't like the fanart. Opinions are welcome. Self-entitled claims and insults are not.

As EPIC as the two-part MLP season finale was, I was fairly disappointed that Luna didn't hop in and save the day after Celestia got pwned by Chrysalis.

So, I painted the battle myself, in the caves beneath Canterlot.

I love the fact that Luna was evil once, and is now good. To me, that makes her the most complex, well-rounded, experienced character on the show. She's had the best of both worlds, and when a baddy like Chrysalis pops up in Canterlot, Luna needs to show them how being a bad-ass is done.

Nobody messes with Luna.

Sketched by hand, painted in Photoshop CS5. This painting took me 28 hours, which I KNOW, I KNOW, is a lot, however, I did a lot of experimenting. There was a lot of trial and error, so the painting was a huge learning experience. Please check out my journal entry "Out of the gates..." for more info about that.

I like how you really captured the effect of the magic beam and Chrysalises expression makes me want to laugh ( I LOVE it when bad guys get pwned) I like the way Lunas mane floats up. If anything, I would have made Chrysalises hair look kinda straggly (shes getting blasted by magic what do you think would happen to your hair?) Overall, I think this is a great piece of work and I hope to see more like this on Deviant Art soon! ( Liek The Cave ) Wish you luck on Deviant art and Plz post more pictures!

Any critique would have to be fairly nit-picky, but you asked, and so shall receive. On the whole, it's a very well done pic. Luna's mane was done very well, and the holes on Chrysalis are executed perfectly as well. The magic blast feels powerful, and the look on Chrysalis' face lets the viewer know she's screwed. Her wings seem a bit off, though. Maybe a bit too short, and her crown thing looks a bit off as well. If it's being blasted off her head, I think more would show around the horn. Luna's pose is a bit odd at the back: at first I thought her legs were consumed by her tail. Even with those minor nit-picks, this is a very epic pic and I would love to see it in a resolution fit for being a desktop background.
